Raquel Fidalgo will represent Portugal at Eurovision Young Dancers 2017 in Prague, Czech Republic.
Raquel was born in December 1999 which means she just turned 18. She started dancing at the age of five and entered the National Ballet School of Portugal (EDCN) in 2010. She performed in many shows and participated in several competitions; in Oporto in 2013 and in Berlin in 2016. Recently, in 2016, she did an internship at the National Ballet Company of Portugal (CNB), in ‘La Bayadere’.
She finished her studies at EDCN in 2017 and is now working with the National Ballet Company of Portugal. It is clear Raquel has a passion for dance. When she was in the seventh grade, she performed as Mascha/Clara in the Nutcracker for a Christmas performance. That was when Raquel realised she wanted to become a professional dancer.
Raquel will perform a contemporary dance called Esquiva, choreographed by Catarina Moreira. Trio Chemirani composed the music accompanying her dance, which is called Attar.
