Facts & figures

Having taken place for more than 30 years, there are many different facts and figures about Eurovision Young Dancers. On this ever-expanding page, we share some of the key facts with you.

  • The first edition of Eurovision Young Dancers took place in Reggio Emilia in Italy in June 1985.
  • Spain has won the competition the most times, five in total (1985, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997).
  • The Netherlands and Poland have both won the contest twice.
  • The highest number of participants was 18 in 2001.
  • Canada entered the competition for the first time in 1987 as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), is an Associate Member of the EBU.
  • Poland has hosted the competition the most times, three in total.
  • The 2007 contest was meant to be held in Switzerland, but was unfortunately cancelled.
  • 2017 marked the second year in a row that the contest has taken place in the Czech Republic.
