The Final of the seventh Eurovision Young Dancers competition was held at the Teatr Musyczny of Gdynia, Poland on the 17th of June, 1997. Grażyna Torbicka, Bogusław Kaczyński and Henk van der Meulen hosted the shows.

Estonia, Slovakia and Latvia made their debut this year.
Six days before the Final, a Semi-Final was held to choose the seven countries that would participate in the Final: Spain, Belgium, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, Latvia and Poland.
This year's top-3 featured the same countries as in the previous edition two years earlier. Spain won the contest for a record fifth time, and fourth time in a row. Belgium finished second with Sweden in third place.
